Amber came home from Louhelen a week and a half ago, so this evening we hung out lots. I came back from school today and I l-o-v-e being home! Amber and I vegged out after I turned in a paper and then we went to see The Proposal. It was Amber's first time seeing it, but I'll be honest - it was my fourth time seeing the film in theaters. I love the movie! It was still in the big theater so I'm hoping it will switch to the cheap theater soon so I can see it again before I leave for Ethiopia.
The last time I saw The Proposal was two Thursdays ago, the first night I was in Boston! Boston was a really great time. The Proposal, kayaking on the Charles, hanging out with Bre & Dave, presents, writing papers, and spending time with Kyle. All-in-all a great weekend.
Progress with Ethiopia:
I was introduced to the National Spiritual Assembly (NSA) of Ethiopia a week ago through the USBNC Office of Pioneering. Today I emailed the NSA! I'm looking forward to their response and this whole process of preparing for Ethiopia gets me more and more excited every day.
Gail also introduced me to the service youth from last year, four wonderful young women from Canada! They are helpful resources and they will soon be bombarded with questions on everything from internet to flip flops. Gail also connected the service youth for this upcoming year: me & Kyle from the U. S. of A. and Galen & Samara from Canada. That means two separate apartments in the same complex; one apartment for girls and one apartment for guys. Unfortunately, Samara sent us an email today saying she will be serving at the Temple in Australia. Actually, I don't know why that is so unfortunate. It is a wonderful experience for her, but now it means I have no roommate in Ethiopia. How selfish of me. But I was looking forward to having a female buddy while abroad. Living alone in my apartment this summer was not the best experience. Oh well, best wishes to Samara on her Australian adventure! I'm sure my experience will still be wonderful.
I also talked to my cool cousin, Gavin, today! Gavin & his wife, Linda, are moving to Ethiopia with their kids. Gavin and Linda both work for the CDC so it will be nice to have family nearby while in Addis. Gavin also has lots of information on Addis and life there, which is very helpful since it's been difficult to research things online.
I feel like I should reread my previous posts. I can't remember if I have mentioned Gavin before or not. Oh well! I'm sure you don't mind reading about him again. Sorry for the really lame update; I promise it will be better in the future!
