Kind Souls

Have you ever had a random stranger go out of his way to put a smile on your face? I love it when that happens. I just made my run to the bank to make sure my accounts wouldn't have any maintenance fees while I'm abroad. An elderly gentleman came into the lobby and gave the teller next to mine something. She looked at it while he was in another room talking to an assistant. When he came back out, he filled out a deposit slip. The teller said "Thanks, Bob! Is this the new one?" They had a small conversation about whatever it was he had tossed over the counter. Then he slid one down the counter to me, saying I could have one, too.

It's the new 2009 penny! I have the 2009 Lincoln one-cent coin in Aspect 2: Formative Years in Indiana. It's in perfect condition, covered by some sort of clear sheet and set between two firm pieces of thin cardboard that are stapled together. Ok, so it might just be a penny...but my mom has been collecting coins for as long as I can remember and I feel like she would appreciate this. Also, it made me happy because someone who didn't know me at all gave me a gift. To follow my sister's mentality, the virtues he demonstrated were (and are not limited to): kindness, generosity, selflessness, caring, compassion. I'm sure you can come up with at least a few more.

Here's a shoutout to Bob - for being a kind soul! May you be a radiant example to others.
