New Years Resolutions - 2010 Edition

I'm enjoying my time with my family, and I am very thankful to have made it through 2009!  2010 will surely be better than 2009, so I'm excited to see what this year holds for me.

Tonight we created a delicious chocolate fondue feast, dressed up, and cheered to 2010 with A&W cream soda.  Wonderful.

To ring in the New Year, here are a few of my New Years resolutions:
  1. Keep in close contact with my younger sisters, mom, and dad.  My sisters and I are finally at the age where we understand each other more or less, so I want to keep the magic flowing.
  2. Stay in contact with my old friends.  Living abroad makes it difficult to keep in touch, especially when I happen to be friends with the most active people on the planet.  But while everyone's busy working to save the world, I figure we'd all appreciate to get updates.  Deep discussions might have to be put on hold for a while
  3. Kick butt in my medical school interviews.  I know I got in last year (twice), but I'd rather not do that whole wait-list thing all over again.  I know Patience is a virtue, but it's one I'd rather not have to exercise.
  4. Be creative in my lessons plans.  I want to incorporate more game and activities into my lesson plans for Virtues classes so that my students really cherish the lessons.
  5. Do exercises three times a week in my apartment.  I decided against renewing my gym membership since that is 300USD I could be using for something else, and I can exercise easily in my own apartment!
  6. Eat a well-balanced diet.  It's kind of hard to do so without putting more effort than I would like to, but I should actually make the effort so I don't get sick.
  7. Read more books!  This is my only "leisure" year for a while, so I need to make the most of it.
  8. To be a responsible and active Institute Coordinator in my neighborhood in Addis.  I want to help my community strengthen and grow, and this is how I have been called upon to serve.
That's all I could think of for now.  It's time for Apples to Apples with the family.

Happy New Year, everyone!

  1. Love the resolutions. Make sure to review them at the end of each month and see where you might need to change it up a bit. Don't get discouraged - resolutions are meant to motivate us to be better so a monthly review will be like a New Year all over again (in a way) :D
